Nicaragua’s first European community is Pueblo Viejo. From the very sight where my picture is taken, hundreds of years ago, new arrivals to this beautiful country stood. Victims Services International arrives in Nicaragua to join the Nicaraguan’s in creating a culture of equality. A culture where women and children do not have to live in fear of abuse. In researching Nicaragua, prior to the visit, it appeared there were few NGOs working with communities. The United States Embassy provided a list of NGOs, from around the world who are supporting cultural change in the communities. After a few days in Managua, I was pleasantly surprised to find many NGOs thriving and willing to collaborate with VSI. Within the next few months many of the NGOs will be added to the VSI website.
